Manado, N Sulawesi, July 29 (Antara) - The Tourism Ministry will open a direct two-way flight between Davao-Manado, Indonesia`s Tourism Minister Arief Yahya, said here on Friday.
"In the future we will open a direct flight from Davao to Manado in the Philippines in North Sulawesi province," the minister said.
Arief said the ministry is promoting the local economic sector by developing its tourism sector.
Manado is the capital city of North Sulawesi province, which well-known for its natural tourist sites.
One of which is the Bunaken National Marine Park, located at the northern tip of Sulawesi.
UNESCO has included Bunaken in its world natural heritage site.
Manando also has the Tandurusa tourist park, which a natural habitat for hog deer, black monkeys, and various species of birds.
The iconic tarsier also lives in the park. It is a small primate native to the islands of Southeast Asia.
About 22 kilometers from Manado, Tomohon city, which is known as the city of flowers, offers a beautiful panorama of flowers.
Located at the foot of Mount Lokon, the soil in Tomohon becomes very fertile and is ideal for the cultivation of various types of flowers.
