Manado, North Sulawesi, (Antaranews Sulut) - Eid al-Fitr or Lebaran holiday travelers to North Sulawesi through the Sam Ratulagi (Samrat) International Airport here will continue to increase until Thursday, a day before Lebaran on Friday.

Samrat Airport management company PT Angkasa Pura I General Manager Minggus Gandeguai remarked here on Tuesday that as of Monday, some 20,336 passengers had arrived at the airport for the Lebaran holiday in North Sulawesi.

Gandeguai noted that the number of passengers arriving at Samrat on Monday increased by 10 percent from 18,466 passengers during the Lebaran holiday last year.

According to Gandeguai, the number of passengers departing from Samrat airport on Monday also increased by three percent, from 21,962 last year to 22,551 passengers.

The surge in the number of passengers at Samrat airport is influenced by several factors, such as easy accessibility to air transportation with the growing availability of production equipment and transportation facilities coupled with an increase in the purchasing power of society.

Gandeguai remarked that the Lebaran homecoming flow will peak on Thursday, and the surge in number of passengers will also reach its peak at the airport in Manado on that day.

Hence, Gandeguai expressed hope that the Lebaran Command Post at Samrat airport would be able to meet the needs of passengers and the public.

Gandeguai revealed that he was also coordinating with the Meteorology and Geophysics Office to ensure that the weather is conducive, and the flights run smoothly.
