Manado, N Sulawesi, (Antaranews Sulut) - Manager of the Waste-Based Application of North Sulawesi Marlon Kamagi invited Islamic boarding schools to utilize the garbage bank.

"There are dozens of Islamic boarding schools in North Sulawesi. They generate a lot of garbage, and I invite them to utilize the garbage bank," he noted here on Thursday.

According to Kamagi, utilization of the garbage bank could provide income for the schools.

"We buy plastic or paper waste that can benefit the local community," he stated.

He remarked that Islamic boarding schools and society should recycle the waste properly.

"Our customers are currently housewives and several other agencies," he revealed.

Due to a shortage of landfills in Manado, this program has gained popularity among the local people.

It is expected that the garbage bank would reduce plastic waste that usually flows into the sea, as it can disturb the ecosystems and have a negative impact on society.
