Minahasa, N Sulawesi, March 31 (Antara) - The Lakban Beach tourism area in Ratatotok Sub-district, Southeast Minahasa District, North Sulawesi, is usually used by the local people to exercise.
"Apart from being a tourist destination, the surrounding area is used (by the local people) to exercise, such as for a morning jog," Chairman of Southeast Minahasa`s Regional People`s Representative Assembly Tavif Watuseke stated here on Saturday.
He noted that almost daily, he and several residents often spent time exercising on the white sandy beach.
"Not only me but several people also come to exercise here in the natural surroundings," he stated.
Moreover, some people engage in water sports, such as jet ski, in the Lakban Beach area.
He also expressed hope that the local government, responsible for the area, would further improve facilities in the region.
"We certainly hope that the facilities would be improved, so that the area will be visited by more people, as the beach is the mainstay of the Lakban tourism destination," he added.
