Manado, N Sulawesi, March (Antaranews Sulut) - North Sulawesi province has increased the commodity export of frozen coconut milk products in 2018.
"This is a new export product from North Sulawesi since 2017," Head of Foreign Trade of North Sulawesi`s Industry and Trade Office, Darwin Muksin, stated here on Tuesday.
Muksin noted that frozen coconut milk was exported to China in the previous year.
"We expect the exporters to increase production and create market expansion to other countries," he remarked.
The frozen coconut milk exported to China was around 51.2 tons. This has caused an increase in foreign exchange, which was recorded at US$55,217.
He explained that the business actors and farmers in the province were encouraged to use it by improving the quality and quantity of these commodities. If the quality has not been improved, it would be prized cheaply then.
The exporters also used to export finished goods besides the semi-finished ones.
In handling this situation, the producers need innovation to produce more valuable stuffs and be able to result in the prosperity of the local people.
