Makassar (ANTARA News) - Indonesia's largest Muslim organization Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) has postponed a national meeting it had planned to hold in January in Makassar, South Sulawesi, to March 2010 , a spokesman said.

"There are two considerations for the postponement, namely bad weather conditions. and the fact that NU cadres are still in mourning over the death of former NU chairman Abdurrahman Wahid or Gus Dur last December 30, 2009," Dr Basyir Syam of the meeting's organizing committee, said here on Monday.

Basyir explained the national meeting in March would have several agendas such as the election of NU's national leader, discussion of ways to build harmonious inter-faith relations.

"NU will rise again as a large organization able to unite different communities in the country," said Basyir adding that the NU national meeting would be attended by thousands of NU members from 33 provinces in Indonesia.
